Flying
the airport lights… multicoloured, twinkling like lots of little stars far away, or like psychedelic fireflies. And before landing, some city lights: its like a light farm. Rows and columns of little lighty points, neatly ordered.

I guess that dog is totally hating that getup.
Grin and Bear
Quotes on JPMC hiking the price for Bear Stearns fivefold. But those who think they should be pushing their luck may want to be a bit cautious. At a certain point, JPM may just say, “thanks for the building, you’ve got 90 days to vacate…” -The Big Picture Somewhere, Gordon Gecko is hanging himself with his suspenders. - Market Watch

from hacker news. how people make money!
Its so grossly weird I had to post it. I don’t know where to categorise this one: amazing trainer or wayward puppy.
Doctors and prefixes
Docs (a lot of my generation) have this weird obsession with adding the dr. prefix as if they would be less accepted by society or something. Even on social networks, even when they are just “looking for friends”
Or like they’d want to dispense free medical advice over cyberspace and they’re just waiting for someone to ask.
And BAMS? what does that mean? Ayurvedic...

Firefox problems
Firefox seems to be going kaput more frequently than usual. That is like once a day. On heavy internet usage. Maybe its a hard-disk issue. Maybe not.
Its kinda inexplicable.
But I wouldn’t move to anything else in the world. I been using it for 4 years now and I like the almost infinite customisation it bring along.

Google, FCCSA and Game theory
From techcrunch:
“All Google really wants are broadband wireless networks that cannot discriminate against Google mobile apps or Android phones no matter who operates them.”
Brilliant example of game theory

Anil Dash: Pricing Irrationality →
Very true when it comes to my previous post, below.
The centro is $99 with a locked in SIM. Otherwise, I think its cheaper compared to the prices in other countries.
Fallacies.

But at INR 13990 its waaay too expensive as compared to its price of $99 in the US. That’s 250% more expensive.

Blogs on everyday things i didn't know existed

Indians Indians Everywhere
“Although a lot needs to be done to encourage research, it is wrong to run down the country’s higher education system since most Indians who excel abroad are products of Indian institutions.”
So I wonder what the government is wondering about where it went wrong.

What a Saturday evening
Generally spent getting wasted.
Mostly good fun.
hookahs, cocktails, dhaba food and pyaasa at 2 in the morning (or night)
The funny edge and other stories
I’ve lost that funny edge. Is it because of all the drudgery or just because I’m happy reading other people’s funny posts?

Squeaky Gears and gawky kids
I’ve been going around on short bike trips to do chores and odds and ends.
And there is a lot of scope for a tune-up.
The gears are especially squeaky around the 4R-HF (that’s my notation for 4th rear, high front) ;)
And there is a persistant rattle around 2R-HF. I need to get these things settled and that’s what Saturday morning is for.
Its kind of strange to see kids stare...

Neil Gaiman’s fantastically awesome American Gods is now available online for free!
This would be the one Neil Gaiman novel I’d recommend to my friends. One unputdownable book.

Basically and Actually
Are actually the words I use most often in conversations.
I don’t know why I use them, but I find it quite annoying, (yes!) and difficult to get rid of.
I also tend to talk a lot. Which means that other people also get to hear these words very very frequently.
What are yours?
p.s.: I wonder if I have any readers at all…

We're getting to know each other
Me and my bike. I took her out for a spin today.
Kind of cranky. But should smoothen over the weekend. Needs some tinkering and servicing. The brakes are stretched a bit “taut” and the seat seems to be a bit low for my riding position.
Never rode a geared bike before last week, and took some time adjusting to the gears.
